A Day In The Life

In The Whisper Of The Trees

Love is in the air! • Thanks to my Eagle-eyed Companion, the always lovely MrsP, we observed two bald eagles perched together in a tree across the river. And may I add we got more than our money’s worth ;) We quickly found out Mister was on the right, and Mrs on the left, when he suddenly got on top of her. It was quick, but was it successful? Only time will tell • If so, she will lay eggs in 5-10 days, and one will sit on these eggs for 5 weeks. After birth the eaglets will remain in their nest for 3 months before taking flight. Pretty cool, right? • Nest building actually occurs 1-3 months prior to mating, however generations of eagles are known to use the same nest over decades. In 1963 a nest in Maine was measured at 20 feet vertically! Imagine! Biologists estimate it had been used for at least 60 years! • Soar like an eagle if you can because the weekend is coming :)
