A day in the life

Springwalk

One of the members of our Facebook "Hiking club", some days ago suggested a 10km walk for today. Six of us wanted to join and we walked along one of the many marked trails around here. We walked along the mainland coast south of Kalmar, the capital of this county. We didn't know that the weather should turn particularly warm today, Kalmar got the new high temperature record in Sweden for February, 17 degrees celsius.

It became a peculiar walk, shifting between chilly wind from the sea, where the snow was still lying in the forest, and sudden warm winds with a typical summer feel. All of us was overdressed and unprepared for this gorgeous weather. Both pictures is from the same area near a small fishing harbour called "Kolboda", with beautiful sea-meadows, slightly flooded in places. The trunk is from the decaying root system of an oak, a very common tree around here. The extra gives you an idea of the grandness around here, the grey bit in the haze at the horizon is Öland, my home island.

As a contrast to todays conditions I would like to add a clip of a song I arranged for a choir in Stockholm and then recorded for a record. The song is "A February song" by Swedish poet Gustaf Fröding. I chose some pictures for the video that fit the song the year it was published on Youtube.
