Red Band

I decided to go "hand held" today, an altogether unsettling prospect for one who normally carries a tripod glued to his camera. But, the sun was very bright and I suspected shutter speeds would be high enough combined with image stabilization switch on.

Although there is some softness when zoomed in to 100%, I think it's still respectably sharp, despite the longish focal length.

My initial subject was simply the twisty birch (?) tree glinting in the sunshine, with the band of red dogwoods of secondary interest behind. However, I did notice when editing, the light on the left hand tree compliments that of the star of the show and adds some depth to the image.

I used Velvia film simulation again to help bring out the reds.
