Blossom

It was a beautiful spring day today, bright and sunny although there was a wind and it was cold in the shade. As usual I walked Xena this morning, came home and did the ironing and then quickly had lunch before going off to Epsom Downs for my Covid vaccine.

The Epsom Downs race course, famous for the Epsom Derby every June, is one of the original seven large scale vaccine hubs set up in the country, and it was all very efficient with marshals in the car park and many volunteers checking you in before you actually have the vaccine. I have added an extra of the Queen's Stand at the race course where I had the vaccine. The St Johns vaccinator who administered my vaccine was an ex-dental surgeon and I never even felt the prick of the needle - although I did feel the substance going into my arm which felt a bit creepy! I was given the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine, which I  expected as there are no specialist refrigeration facilities there for the Pfizer vaccine.

After the vaccine I met a friend for a walk across the race course and downs - she brought a very welcome cappuccino which she had collected en-route from a nearby café. From Monday we are now allowed to walk with one other person and actually sit down outside and have a drink/coffee - although many people have already been doing this right through lockdown.

I took some photos of the blossom today - it was not easy to photograph as the branches were high overhead and were waving about in the wind. However rain is forecast tomorrow and I wanted to get photos of the blossom before the flowers are knocked off by the rain.

I have my monthly camera group meeting staring in about 45 minutes and I haven't cooked supper yet!
