Gently down the stream

Crab Wood

Today I had a beautiful walk with a friend.  We started at Teg Down and went to Crab Wood and back.  The sun was glorious.  We met a mother and daughter who had lost their dog, but apart from that all was happiness.

This bit of the wood shows where volunteers have been doing a lovely coppicing job.  I think there will be a lot of bluebells here later.  As it was we saw fat clumps of primroses and a scattering of early wood anemones, plus quantities of butterflies - brimstones, some old and torn peacocks and one prisitne and rather shy fritillery.

Very soon after this shot we emerged back onto the lane to go home.  There we met the mother and daughter who had lost their dog.  They were in their car and called out of the window that they'd given up and were going home, but that they'd left a note pinned to a gate in case anyone found him.  I must admit I was gobsmacked.  And 2 minutes after they'd left the dog turned up in hysterics looking for them.

Yes, we did catch Jumble in the end (there's a pic in Extras) and we rang them.  The daughter came back for him.  She was a nice girl but I felt cross enough to tick her off a little.  How can you do that?

Hope your week's begun well, lovely peeps  xx
