A time for everything

Golden Arches

This morning, Roger and I were at church to practice our anthems for tomorrow with the brass and percussion, and the hymn arrangements with the brass and handbells. By the time we got home, Laura had arrived from university with her friend Kristin. Jen had come down from Columbus yesterday evening and while we had been gone, she had very kindly made us a dessert for dinner this evening.
After lunch we went down to Cincinnati Zoo and botanical gardens, which is featuring Zoo Blooms at present, when over 80,000 tulips, along with daffodils, hyacinths, flowering tress, shrubs and other spring bulbs come into bloom. From there we just had a bit of a drive round Cincinnati, showing Kristin some of the sights. This is the view from Mt. Adams over the Ohio River and the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, or the "Big Mac" bridge as it is usually referred to, as the golden arches are reminiscent of MacDonalds golden arches! The bridge was opened in 1971 and carries the I-471 across the Ohio into Kentucky. It was a toss-up between an unusual tulip shot and the bridge for today's blip. I liked this shot as you have the shadow of the bridge falling on the river.
