Wonderful Waitakere Ranges

Today we went on an outing with a new walking group.  We met at a bus stop in Greenlane and a charter bus took us out to West Auckland and up to the Waitakere Ranges National Park, where we walked through beautiful native bush, admired wonderful views, chatted to new people, and enjoyed our lunch sitting on a seat at Mackies Rest looking out to the Manukau Harbour.  It gradually changed from a misty morning to a wonderful sunny day with blue skies, such a contrast to yesterday’s horrid weather. The main photo looks over the Lower Nihotupu Reservoir towards the Manukau Harbour, on Auckland’s west coast.  The extras are of one of the tracks and some unusual fungi at the side of the track. The link provides information about the Ranges - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waitākere_Ranges.
