Looking down on Sidmouth

It was a beautiful sunny, cool and calm day and I was on the first of our walking group walks.  We were grouped into two sets of 6 and were on a mystery walk starting from Otterton.

The walk was designed to link many of the unknown paths and I certainly was walking along green lanes and paths I hadn't visited before.  I was in the front group and we were walking at quite a speed, we headed up Anchoring Hill and eventually back down to the river, crossing over a bridge and heading to Newton Poppleford.  It was such a beautiful morning with the sun shining on us, the constant bird song and just the sounds of our chatter.  Once at Newton Poppleford we headed up alongside the Four Elms fruit farm eventually crossing the main road to Sidmouth where we found another small lane.  By now we were doing a fair amount of climbing and skirted around the edges of the town before climbing up the side of Bulverton Hill and around the lower edge of Mutters Moor. Crossing the road to Peak Hill we found another new green lane that took us back to Otterton skirting around Anchoring Hill to our starting point.  We walked 10 miles in total and I got a good work out in the process.  An enjoyable mixed walk.
