Today’s wonder of the natural world: ants carrying larvae.

Given the larva seems bigger than the ant I wondered if it might be something other than an ant larva, but I haven’t got an answer to the mystery as yet. As well as the one in the main image there was another nearby, and that larva seemed different again (extra).

I hope that provides sufficient ant antics for you for one day.

I went out along Baildon Bank for my lunchtime walk, and other than ants I saw a couple of Peacock butterflies, my first Orange-tip of the year and lots of birds attending to their nesting sites.
