Male Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

As I have often mentioned early in the day I "expose a few electrons" on a "just in case " basis.  Today soon after I drew the curtains this male woodpecker dropped in for breakfast.  Unusual in two ways, the first being we haven't seen much of it over the last few months and even more unusual  it didn't fly at the first movement in the room.

I managed to get the camera from one place, the card from the card reader and still get shots (having stopped Clickychick entering the room!).  Then she wandered round the room a while doing things and still it continued breakfast.

Barely noticeable in this shot is the red nape which shows it is a male.
