Flower Friday: Alliaria petiolata

Following the mysterious appearance of a little sapling in the garden the other week (which turned out to be downy birch), we've recently spotted the unexpected appearance of this little plant in a border in a different part of the garden. We hadn't a clue what it is and my Editor failed to identify it from her gardening books. However the powers of the internet (in the form of Bing) came up with the answer straight away when we "showed" it this photo. It's Alliaria Petiolata, aka Garlic Mustard (or rather more fun, "Jack-by-the-Hedge"). It's certainly rather pretty and only about a foot tall.

Many thanks as always to BikerBear Anni for hsoting FF.

(Reminder: Tomorrow is not only Mayday, it's also the first Saturday of the month - which means it's the "official" monthly Silly Saturday in memory of Admirer. Laurie54 is kindly hosting, so go on: give her some really silly blips to laugh at! I'm sure that, just as Admirer used to say, she'll be "looking forward to find all the silly, comical and funny images in the gallery". The tag will be SilSMay2021, or SilS239 if you prefer - or use both.)
