SILLY SATURDAY - MAY DAY WEDDING

We have it on good authority that following the Virtual Hen Party Mrs. HCB attended a couple of weeks ago, the actual wedding of Ruth and Wil is due to take place today in Bristol - and what better day for a wedding than May Day?

We were wondering if there will be any dancing around the Maypole, so we asked Mr. and Mrs. HCB.  They told us there wouldn’t be, which is a great shame because it’s always so much fun;  we know we would have enjoyed it and we’re sure that Wil and Ruth would have enjoyed it too.  It’s a bright and sunny morning but it’s also cold and frosty, so a good dance around the Maypole would have warmed us all up - perhaps we can get them to change their mind!

Anyway, although Mr. and Mrs. HCB were invited to the wedding, because of the lockdown, only 15 people are allowed to attend, so they and all the other guests, apart from the important ones of course, will be watching on Zoom.  That sounds exciting doesn’t it?  We know that very soon everyone will be getting dressed up in their finery and we have told Mr. and Mrs. HCB that they are definitely not to wear their trackie bottoms with a posh top, because even if no-one will actually see them, it’s not quite the done thing for a wedding, and that really would be silly and would make Admirer giggle!

When we knew about the wedding, we all had a little chat and decided that it would be good if we got dressed up too and had a pretend wedding, especially for Silly Saturday. I made sure all my special Wiltshire Air Ambulance clothes were well pressed, then Penny Penguin and Snowy fiddled around with some old net curtains and came up with the dress that Tiny is wearing.  We picked some daisies from the garden and Penny Penguin made a beautiful bouquet and as the anemones are looking so pretty, we picked a couple of them too.  I didn’t want a daisy buttonhole, so we managed to find a dandelion, and I’m quite happy with that, because although it is classed as a weed, it’s such a pretty flower and matches my outfit too.

We hope that Wil and Ruth will have a lovely day and be very happy in their new life together.  They were due to go to Japan for their honeymoon, but again, because of the lockdown, they won’t be going for a while, but we hope they will be able to go towards the end of the year.  Of course, the good thing about the service being on Zoom is that both Mr. and Mrs. HCB can have a glass of wine at the virtual reception, and they won’t even have to drive home!

Well, we can’t hang around for too long, because the wedding is at 1 o’clock and we don’t want to be late - that’s the bride’s prerogative!

With love to you all - have a great weekend, whatever you are doing - you might even be dancing around a Maypole!

With love
