Come Gather...

...in my lungs Scottish wind; Belt out your blackest poems as the sea around you sings. Frightened Rabbit.

Stormy and ominous today; with a freezing wind blasting from the East. Mum arrived in Aberdeen last night and this afternoon we ate lunch in one of the small, warm cafes lining the beachfront, while the weather battered the sea outside. After a hot bowl of soup, M drove us to the south breakwater to watch the boats struggle against the swell into the relative calm of the harbour. I put up a couple of extra shots on my 'Folio. It's definitely worth going large to see the spray, the seagulls, and the optical illusion of the ship's cargo!

M was working this morning, but Mum and I had a more relaxed start to the day with bagels and smoked salmon and plenty of coffee. After a shower, we headed out to town to have a look at the exhibition in the partly refurbished Tivoli Theatre; "Above and Below the Sea". It featured mainly paintings from Eric Auld, which aren't entirely to my taste, but are interesting as an resident of Aberdeen, as the subject is usually recognisable as architechture from the city.

After lunch and our walk along the breakwater, we headed home and M is now making our roast chicken dinner, we have a documentary on the Shetland Islands on the TV and Mum has her Saturday Times crossword. Lovely weekend so far :o)
