Kentish Countryside

Very much a day of three halves.

This morning was devoted to tasks. For Susan it was cleaning, for me cutting pathways in our long grass (no mow May), washing pots (a never ending task) ready for tomato plants, sowing some purple sprouting and planting out lettuce.

In the afternoon we walked a new part of Kent just a few miles south of Wrotham Secondary school where I taught from 1983-88. We walked through Basted, Plaxtol and Crouch on a fine circular route through rolling Kent Countryside and spectacular houses, especially in Plaxtol.

Today’s walk and last week’s came from a book called Train Walks in Kent. We didn’t take the train this time. However, there are 10 walks to do and taking the train would mean being able to have a drink as part of the walk.

Today’s blip is of that Kent Countryside, with the native alpaca grazing the pastures and what can only be an alpacaherds hut peeping over the hedge.

And the third thing? Ah! Saturday evening date night. Nibbles, drinks, nice dinner, more drinks, Runrig concert, ice cream, chocolate and finally coffee and may be a single malt.
