Between fen and mountains

Chiming mechanism

This may be a boring blip for those who are not of a technical bent. However, it has been raining all day so I have got stuck into more clocks. At least the rain made quarantine seem less onerous today. You can see on the right hand side the timing cam which, with it cut outs, determines the length of the chiming sequence. You can also see on the left the serrated rack which, when the end of it drops onto the snail, will determine the number of hours struck as each tooth is picked up by the rotating gathering pallet above it. Well, that is quite enough of that!
