Walk Repeat

This morning I did the same walk as yesterday, this time with G. It’s a flat walk, so easiest on my back. I was hoping to catch a photo of the steam train passing, but we were about 5 mins too early when we set off and a minute too late as we walked back - I didn’t think you’d want to see a photo of the train roof as it went down into a small cutting!

Day 427 /  Day 1 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only
Today was day 1 of Step 3 of roadmap easing, but I won’t be changing any behaviours for another month (3 weeks after getting my 2nd jab on Thurs). The PM has urged the public to exercise a ‘heavy dose of caution’ due to the rise of the India variant. 2,323 cases of the India variant has now been identified in the UK, that’s a 77% rise in 4 days. It’s now the dominant variant in Blackburn with Darwen and Bolton with 483 cases. There are 86 local authorities with 5 or more cases and surge testing is now taking place in Bedford. Downing St says a planned review of social distancing this month could be delayed due to the new variant. It’s not looking good. 37 year olds in Eng can book a vaccine tomorrow and 36 year olds from Wed. The Gov is standing by the JCVI that vaccines will continue to be rolled out by age and clinical need not by areas with surges - local politicians seem to be playing politics again in the NW. Trials are underway to receive both a Covid and flu jab at the same time. Covax is 140m doses short due to the suspension of exports from India. Good to now be able to see our vaccination record on the NHS app (not the NHS Covid app).
