A time for everything

Maiden voyage!

Saturday
Our hot, dry weather continues, though there was a bit more cloud cover at times, so it felt very pleasant, so it seemed a perfect day to take one of our kayaks for a maiden voyage, our paddles and life jackets having arrived during the week. Unfortunately, since we are still waiting for roof bars for our new car - I have a feeling it’s going to be a long wait - we could only take one in the car, and so we took turns. We first headed to Caesar Creek, but decided that looked a bit crowded, so we went on to Cowan Lake, which is smaller, and a low horse power lake. We were both pleased with it - it was comfortable and was quite stable, and went nicely. As you can see from my collage, there were several large Canada goose families, as well as swallows flitting low over the water, and a heron flying overhead at one point. A fun afternoon!
