Pied flycatchers bonding

F and I went for a woodland walk today and were very lucky to see a pair of pied flycatchers.  They're summer visitors from Africa and breed in oak woodlands on the west of the UK.  As you can see, the male is black and white and the female brown and white.

The male was perched on a branch when the female joined him.  He did some posturing and appeared to feed her before they flew off.  They're red on the conservation status list so I won't say exactly where they were but we were thrilled to see them.
