Spicebush Swallowtail

It is turning into full-on summer here, with a couple of pretty hot days coming up over the weekend. It was late morning, and T. Tiger and I were out in the meadow, looking for butterflies.

This somewhat large, black butterfly showed up, and it stopped to drink from every tiny, purple flower in the meadow. I said what I always say when I see a fine butterfly: "Hello, sister!"

The butterfly was very friendly and it spent a few minutes flitting around as I tried to get pictures. It was so active that nearly every shot was a blur but this one. So say hello to the spicebush swallowtail!

June 4 is my dad's birthday - he turned 91 - and we called up my parents to say hello and wish my dad a happy day. I asked him how they were doing, and he replied: "Well, we both got up this morning, and my lovely wife is sitting here beside me smiling, so everything must be OK."

Also, I am posting this blip on June 5, which is my big sister Barb's birthday. I have been missing her a lot, especially of late, as we always tried to arrange a beach trip around her birthday. Butterflies remind me of her, and so I was glad to have this lovely butterfly "visit" so close to her special day.

Let's let the soundtrack song be this one, which I know I've used before: Dolly Parton, with Love Is Like a Butterfly.
