Not what it looks like

Nope ... not wine. This is part of the riches of Cyril Codina's vinegar empire, on display opposite the terrace of his restaurant. We are old enough to remember his doll museum with integrated tramway experience. That's long gone; now he has colonised the entire block with a vinegar and olive oil shop and a vastly expanded restaurant, where we had lunch with S and T. The complex also features a honey shop and another shop selling a special local aperitif based on Kina-Karo. It's all très chic, and was a full house for lunch.

It's extraordinary. I remember joking that Cyril's wine was so bad he had to diversify into vinegar. He teamed up with local 3-star chef Gilles Goujon, and the rest is history. He even showed up on national TV recently.

The restaurant looks pricy, but S and I know from experience that one dish between two is ample. The other S ignored our advice and was served a steak of 300 grams.  T and I had four quite large lamb cutlets each, and my S abstemiously ordered some scallops (mistake ... this restaurant is all about the meat). A lot of sharing went on. Some people (not me) managed to find space for dessert. Extra: I kind of liked the abstract effect produced by the awning over the roof terrace. Large quantities of meat feature in this photo, though you can't tell.

We arrived at 1 pm and staggered from the table at 4. As you can see, the weather was very different from yesterday's. S and T nobly walked home, while S drove us back.
