St Peter's Church, Croft-on-Tees a 12th century church with much history. Romans, Britons, Saxons, Normans and Tudors have left their mark over time. 

In 1834 the Revd Charles Dodgson was appointed rector and his son Charles Lutwidge (aka Lewis Carroll) at the age of 11, developed his stories until he headed off to Rugby School (1846) & Oxford (1849). Both his parents are buried here.

Apparently one gargoyles looks very much like a grinning cat...
