Long day in the office after an early hair appointment - realised if I didn't take this one there wasn't another slot til late July by which time I'd have looked like a yeti! Had to run up the hill to get to the office in time for the first of many meetings and the day dashed past with some emails between the meetings that tested my patience. I find it hard to believe how egocentric some people can be - and why they can't see/care about their impact on others, but unfortunately not uncommon. Sigh!
At the end of the day walked along to the other end of Quartermile and up to the penthouse flat for drinks and nibbles with R&D and 4 other guests.  Oh my goodness - the terrace was almost the same size as the flat - stunning views that wrapped around them - here across the Meadows to Marchmont (and on the far right the school where Miss Jean Brodie raised her girls to be the creme de la creme!).
Lots of good chat about London and Edinburgh, governments' approaches to Covid, holidays in Sienna, what we should call our grown up children when 'children' sounds wrong, architectural history, seagulls as protected species, planting schemes and train journeys (amongst other things!), and was so reminiscent of these type of events that I used to go to all the time but had completely got out of the habit of. We tried to stay out on the terrace most of the time although it was pretty chilly and windy...this was taken just before I left when the sun glimpsed through. Quick walk home and a relatively early night.
