Wetlands

We had a somewhat quieter day today. Our friend lives almost 50km from town so just driving in and out takes awhile. We needed to buy some more summer tops for Bob and thought this would be the perfect spot, but they had winter clothes out and people had layers on. We were mostly hot. We did find a couple in his size after trying to find the shop we wanted. For any Sydney Siders….it was a huge complex like Penrith plaza. I needed to ask the Google maps how to find the store once we were inside.

We needed diesel and to fill up the gas bottle. Also wanted a funnel for water, milk and a large container of water ( the local supplies has a funny taste). That took a lot of the day, trying to find the right shops. Our car navigation is out by a few hundred metres and wants to take us places that don’t exist. We have found that before in Queensland and also SA. We drove to the old Bunnings site ( now Coles is there) to get the gas they advertised which they didn’t have. On a back street tour of the local industrial area we saw an Avan dealer and popped in to get replacement light globes ( which they needed to order in). We ended up getting everything we needed and generally found all the people in the shops very obliging and friendly. Wiki says there are 70,000 people here but the ABS says 90,000+ ( Aust Bureau of Statistics).

Of course we needed morning tea ( hot choc and banana bread) and a walk in the Swamplands. What a beautiful place. It had walking trails around lots of ponds and lakes with many birds and trees and bats. My favourite trees were the paperbark that love swampy grounds.

Bob hired one of these electric scooters but I didn’t want to try it as I have dodgy knees. He wasn’t impressed. We walked instead. We were wishing we had our folding e bikes but alas Bob’s had a clutch problem and needed to be returned to the manufacturer just before we left. There have been many times we could have enjoyed a ride.

Dinners ready.
