Mono Monday - Take Off

I thought I'd take the car and nip up to the station to take a few photo of the steam train as a mono Monday shot. For some reason it was creating a lot of steam today. The main photo is as it was 'taking off' from the end of the track to reverse and re-couple with the coaches for the return journey - hence it was disappearing backwards into the steam. I've added an extra of it after it arrived at the platform. Good to see it looking very busy again, with lots of tourists walking into town from the station.

A good performance by the young Brit wildcard Jack Draper in taking a set off Djokovic in the opening match on centre court and well done Tiafoe in beating Tsitsipas. Brilliant to have Wimbledon on again and how moving to see the long and moving standing ovation for Dame Sarah Gilbert (who led the devt of the Oxford /AZ vaccine) who was a guest in the Royal Box!

Day 469 / Day 43 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
A big jump in the UK new daily cases to 22,868, although yesterday's no. was lower due to a technical error meaning some cases couldn't be included. In Scotland, there were 3,285 new cases, the highest over 24 hours since the start of the pandemic (don't know if this was affected by the technical error). Hospital admissions and deaths are showing no cause for concern so far. In a 'mix and match' study giving one dose of AZ then one of Pfizer or vice versa, has shown the combination gives 'an extra kick to the immune system' overall via the combination of antibodies and T cells. The Booster study is on-going. Brits arriving in Portugal now have to quarantine for 14 days if they haven't received two vaccine doses. Interesting to hear that Andrew Marr caught COVID recently (after covering the G7 summit) despite having had two Pfizer jabs, but it didn't show on two lateral flow tests and fortunately he also went for a PCR test which showed he was positive.  Interestingly a prototype face mask has been developed in the US which can detect if the wearer has COVID from their breath. It gives a result in 90 min and might be as accurate as a PCR test.
