Mono Monday: Take Off

Amazingly, we have a local grass runway airstrip here in the village.  It has just the one runway, a windsock and a hanger.  Nothing much else.  It is not used that often, but every now and then a small single engined plane takes off from it.  It sometimes then buzzes around above the village in an annoying fashion.  Its much, much louder than a motorbike exhaust!

The airstrip sits on higher flat land  about 75m above river level so planes are still pretty low when they fly over the relevant section of the water meadows.  Amusingly, a footpath crosses the airstrip and, so rather like with level crossings, there are large signs telling walkers to stop look and listen before they venture across the runway.  I've never yet been on that section of the footpath when there has been a plane on the ground, but I live in hope that I might see one.

The forecast was originally for rain all day, but after last night's torrential downpour its actually been dry all day and, when I went out to take this, there was even some blue sky.
