It's A Fight For Space....

and the hostas are winning. It's a jungle out there. These hardy daisies have done well, but elsewhere, it's a different story. There is no hope whatsoever for the newly planted dianthus. Even the ferns have conceded. The coneflowers are putting up a good fight but it doesn't look good. The day lilies are overwhelmed;  their tall gangly orange cousins are still above the fray..but for how long? The hostas, almost overnight, have sprouted their tall stalks and are now threatening to bloom. When they do, they will steal the show. Game over. But not for the weeds...they have been holding their own under all that foliage, unseen, but quietly creeping and spreading, taking over new territory, getting ready to fight another day. Then it will be them against me...and the odds do not look good for me.
