Day 472 A very busy day

Today began with the removal of our existing mattress from our bed ready for the new mattresses to be delivered for both our bed and the bed in Daughter#1's room.  Her old mattress was removed at the weekend and has stayed in the hall ever since to be joined by our own.  Pre pandemic the store that bought from would remove the old items and dispose of them for you, but not now due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Now we have to have the council come and collect them from the boundary of our property and they can't come until Monday.  If it ever stops raining they'll be outside sooner than that though.
This afternoon Violet was picked up from school as usual on Wednesdays by her other grandpa, her Pops.  He always treats her to a McDonalds and this evening dropped her off at ours, as Daughter #2 is now on maternity leave.  It was lovely to have a long overdue catch up with him.
We had an early dinner so that we were ready to concentrate on the event of the evening, the match between England and Denmark at Wembley Stadium England won and are through to the final.  Maybe football is coming home after all!
It was during our early dinner that we had this delightful encounter with a young fox visiting the garden.  We did throw a few meaty scraps on the lawn which were eagerly consumed, so maybe he/she will visit again.  Violet was thrilled that the fox came so close, but Peggy Sue not so much: she  kept her distance until our visitor had left and then marched out to the lawn and glared at us as there were no tasty treats left for her.
