Wandering

Had a good night’s sleep and chatted to F over tea in the morning until G and V were up, then we set off for a wander around the village and along the shore. Great to hear about all the changes in the village (houses being bought to let out, gossip about the pub owner, newcomers and who counts as such, history of the pier’s building and controversy about the statue to the fisherwomen and children of the village in times past) and to see how many people nodded hello and chatted to G&F as we went around. At one point we were delighted to see a school of 3 or 4 dolphins swimming along just off the beach….my video just about caught them but I couldn’t get a photo. Never seen that before…it was magical!
The sun was breaking through as we walked and it turned into a stunning morning. We came across a marquee full of home baking to raise money for the ‘menopausal mermaids’…the local wild swimming group. What a great community….V and I both rather jealous of them living here!
We went back to their lovely garden for brunch and could have sat there all day but had to dash to get back for V’s next social engagement! It meant we didn’t get the chance to stop in the fruit farm shop or the car boot sale and bric a brac shop that we’d hoped to browse on the way but that just gives us reasons to come again!
Dropped her home and I had a mooch around the shops at Fort Kinnaird as I wanted wrapping paper etc for the upcoming celebrations and anyway the sun had disappeared and it was cloudy and muggy. Threatened rain but that never materialised. Of course I didn’t get anything that I needed but did pick up some other things and had a browse before picking up some M&S food and heading home. Called A and then T for a chat, later made a top notch burger supper (very rare for me but just fancied them!) and watched some catch up TV before an early night. What a lovely couple of days
