I spend quite a lot of time watching starlings. They're not everyone's favourite garden bird but I like them, sociable, chatty and argumentative, with beautiful shiny feathers. 

A neighbour's garage roof has a dip in it which makes a safe bath, then they sit in the large shrub to preen, before having a snack at the feeders. It's a starling's life!
