Poppies at the end of Leicester Road

Workmen have recently completed extensive revisions of the approach to Junction 23 of the M1, near us. As ever, farmland is turned over, dormant poppy seeds germinate and we get a show of poppies in the summer. This year there are even exquisitely blue cornflowers as well.

Workers had to dig up the land for new traffic lights on the approach roads and that is why we have this splendid show at the end of Leicester Road.

Basil and I walked there from home this morning thankful that there was a cooling northerly breeze.

Off to Gill and Geoffrey's shortly for a slightly early birthday cake.
