Life's Little Moments

All Blinged Out

I headed out for a paddle this morning, in spite of wretchedly hot, sticky weather.  There wasn't even a whisper of a breeze on the water which made for a fair amount of sweat but at least not much boat motion to contend with when aiming a camera.  I paddled across the lake and then slowly made my way back along the shoreline where the dragons are thick as flies right now.

This stunning little fellow is one of our smallest dragons, measuring in at only about an inch.  He was busy patrolling his section of the lily pads, returning frequently to perch on this small stick in the water.  He's an Eastern Amberwing (Perithemis tenera).  There were also quite a few bluets, loads of blue dashers (see Extra). slaty skimmers, pondhawks,  halloween pennants,  and widow skimmers.  It looked to me like they were all practicing their moves for the upcoming AOG!

Back on the Lane, the action in the garden is also picking up.  Team Great Golden Digger have managed to re-excavate almost all of their tunnels so are once again a favorite to wing the burrowing competition.  Team Hummie are having their usual drama within the team, as are Team Chippie.  I have no doubt the Game coverage will be quite challenging!

I have discovered a new dark chocolate with salted almond butter - yum!
