A day in the life

Garden concert

Most concerts at "Sandås Musik Café" are on Sundays. Not every Sunday but at least once a month, sometimes twice, like this month, when we had one last Sunday, one today and one on Tuesday next week. Busy in July.
I usually I'm responsible for the technical side of things, sound, moving things, welcoming audience, that sort of thing. One o'clock this afternoon I met up for soundcheck with todays artists, three talented young women striving to spread their music and to entertain the rest of us.

The main artist, Ida Gratte, is a coming Swedish singer-songwriter who sings in Swedish but also has an alias where she sings feministic pop songs in English aimed towards a broader audience. Today we heard the Swedish repertoar. Love songs, love gone wrong songs, splitting up songs and abuse songs. She brought two friends with her, Maja Ottilia and Frida, who also contributed with their own songs but mostly acted as background choir for Ida. Personally I liked what they were doing but I felt that their twenty five year old perspective is a bit different to mine.

The audience of about thirty people really enjoyed the concert, the surrounding garden and the coffee with sandwich and cake. The artists played for about an hour and I was home again at seven, a workday of six hours, but pleasant and rewarding hours.
Time for a new one on Tuesday.
