Our last day

Always a sad one and the fortnight seems to have gone extra fast, probably due to the sad start when we had the flood to deal with inside and lots of rain outside but once the sun came out it has been back to enjoying our friends’ lovely property, the garden and of course the wonderful birds who have been coming to visit. We shall miss them.  3 Jays at the bird feeders just now but I didn’t get the camera out in time.

31degrees here today but at least I’ve saved one of the baby Robins who flew into the house and knocked himself out for a while, got all the washing dry, some of the cleaning and packing done and a lovely walk down the lane from the village.  At the bottom of the lane there is a huge Buddleia bush which is usually covered in Butterflies, particularly a large number of Fritillaries but today I only saw a couple of them and a few Red Admirals, hardly any bees on the lavender either.  Is it too hot for them??

Tomorrow we’re starting our journey home but stopping off in Devon to stay with friends for a couple of days.  Haven’t seen them for 3 years so can’t wait.
