100 ABSTRACTS - NUMBER 91

Like most Blippers I tend to keep things that I think might be useful for Blips and today’s is  something I saved from the top of a calendar - it’s the “curly bit” that keeps it together - there is probably a name for it, but spiral binding doesn’t sound as good as “curly bit”!

I put that on top of some little turquoise decorative glass nuggets on top of my sparkly worktop and then took several shots using the SlowShutter app.

Of course, there was some faffing and fartnarkling involved afterwards, using the Snapseed App - well, you all know me by now - and this is Number 91 in my 100 Abstracts Challenge, which I have almost finished, to raise awareness of the Mamie Martin Fund, which enables impoverished girls in North Malawi to obtain a good secondary education.

TIDYANAWO - From 2006-2009, this young woman was a student at Robert Laws Secondary School in Embangweni.  Like many other girls, her parents could not afford to pay her school fees so she was about to be withdrawn from secondary school, but thanks to financial help from the Mamie Martin Fund, she was able to complete her four years there.

In May 2018, Tidyanawo was attending Mzuzu University in her final semester and hopefully, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Education, following which she hoped to become a secondary school teacher.  Once again, this young woman was eager to give back to her community, after receiving help to complete her own secondary education, which is so encouraging, not only to the community but also to the Fund that helped her in the first place.

It’s another very hot day - we have had a lovely morning in the garden with our friend, Lillieth, who popped in for coffee, so now we are just going to sit in the garden again and do nothing except read, or we might even have a little nap - stay cool!

“The success of every woman
     should be the inspiration to another;
          we should raise each other up.
Make sure you’re very courageous:
     be strong, be extremely kind,
          and above all be humble.”
