HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY MUM

Photo taken on 4th August Backblipped on 5th August.

Got up nice and early to leave for Mum's to spend the day with her and my sister.  The A590 was already starting to be a bit of a problem as they had just started cutting the grass, so the dual carriageway was reduced to single lanes most of the way.  The grass did need cutting though.

I got to Mum's without too much problem though by about 10.00 am.
There upon Mum was "permitted" to opened all her cards and presents.  We all three of us had great fun with that.

My sister had stayed overnight with Mum.  They both told me of the lovely time they had had at lunch, just The Shrimp (local pub, now a Toby Inn) yesterday.  Mum's next door neighbour (a man in his late 50s I think, who has only been there about 3 or 4 years but has always been very pleasant, friendly and supportive.  He had secretly (with my sister) made arrangements with  The Shrimp.  She didn't know anything about it.  On arrival the staff had set up a lovely table for her with a card and balloons and all the staff gathered to wish her a Happy Birthdy and sing Happy Birthday to her, to which the rest of the pub joined in, especially two little boys who thoroughly enjoyed singing.  Nice meal and their waitress was very very attentive.  They had a great time.  What a lovely thing for her neighbour to do.

Then at 11:45 we left to meet Hubby and G at The Villa in Levens.  Everyting went fine until we got to the turn off from the A591 when there was a big queue to get off the dual carriageway because the grass cutting and lane closures (both directions) on the A590 - so it took a while.

Still we arrived  in time and Hubby and G were waiting for us in the car park.  The VIlla was very quiet today, there were few customers - but apparently they are always very busy Fridays to Sundays with Weddings.  They greeted Mum with a Happy Birthday and set up the Restaurant just for us rather than just go into their conservatory as usual.  Hubby and G came through the door as we were seating ourselve with a beautiful bouquet for Mum and a 90th balloon (that was incredibly hard to get), so we sang Happy Birthday to her.

The meal was lovely but I have to admit that the service was very slow and not that good, we had to ask for things like mayo and vinegar!!!.  It could be that they knew I was trying to still be covid secure so tried to distance themselves a bit!!!

Anyway we still enjoyed ourselves very much, being on our own we didn't have to worry about anyone else so that was good.

We then came back to my home for coffee and a chat.  Sister had providea cake, which we then put candles, including 90 sparklers - which we incredibly hard to light and just as we walked through the door to present the cake Mum had decided to go for a walkabout and missed the sparklers!!!!!!!  Oh well we enjoyed it.

Then I took Mum and Sister home. That journey was not good.  The A590 was now really clogged up, luckily I know a back road and managed to scoot down there and rejoined the A590 much further up which was slow but moving.  All went OK till we go to The Bay Gateway in Morecambe (the link between Lancaster and Morecambe just off the M6) which was closed owing to a bad accident and we were directed off it.  Gulp - there were only two roads, one was already clogged and would mean going through Lancaster the other was to go back North on the M6.  So I did that but came off at Carnforth.  Then a huge queue to get us through the two sets of traffic lights in Carnforth!!

We eventually turned up at my beautiful niece's house, who will be 30 tomorrow and she had a present for Mum she wanted to give to Mum.  So we spent a bit of time there with her and her two gorgeous boys.  Apparently the accident that had closed The Bay Gateway was very bady, it involed an air ambulance, fire engines and I think 3 ambulances and it happened at lunch time, only about 50 minutes after we had been there on our way to Levens so we felt extremely lucky and relieved.

We stayed at Mum's until 7.00 pm then I ran sister home to Lancaster.  The Bay Gateway was still closed so after dropping her off in Lancaster I went up the A6 through Galgate and joind the motorway at Junction 33, but that was fine as the roads were empty.  I saw the huge queue over the bridge still trying to get around The Bay Gateway though, so it was a good decision.

The rest of the journey was uneventful - thank goodness.  But I was shattered with all that driving.  A great day for Mum though and that is what matters.
