AOG - Day 14 - On the Podium

Your Intrepid Reporter traveled to a venue about 20 minutes away where she enjoyed some time with several other reporters and photojournalists while also covering various events.

Right out of the gates, Team Calico Pennant took Gold for their speed flights, always returning to the same perch.  No easy feat with dozens of them in the competition.  On several occasions, little scuffles broke out over perch-confusion, but everything got sorted and Charlie Calico won the day.  His partner Callie, can be seen in Extra.  Lots of pollinating events going on today, both in the endurance and speed categories.  Finals will be happening over the next two days, so stay tuned!

Back at the NJ Olympic Village, I stopped by the Mountain Mint Arena to see how the Speed Pollinating event trials were going.  Team Bumble Bee has been really putting on a strong showing and I think they are the team to beat.  However, there was a dark cloud in one part of the arena involving Team Conopid Thick-headed Fly.  Sadly, the entire team was disqualified from the AOG when Coppie Conopid was seen in very, very close proximity to one of the stars of Team Bee, apparently attempting to deposit an egg.  Parasitism is strictly prohibited and everyone in the arena was completely aghast.  You can see Coppie HERE trying to disavow the entire sordid event.  And in another shameful AOG first, Helvetica House Wren, who was banned from the AOG over a week ago for predation, was seen today brazenly posing for the cameras with a member of Team Orbweaver in her beak - a shocking event that you can see HERE  .  Her offspring could be heard cheering her on from inside their hotel.  What a mess.

There was some late-breaking news yesterday when my husband called me to come see "bumble bees copulating".  Well, you know I didn't have to be asked twice!  Sure enough, Boris was making passionate love to Beaula right in the driveway - the heart wants what the heart wants, I guess.  All the juicy details here.  (And yes, this would have been my blip had I not already filed my report!)

See yesterday's full reports HERE - you won't want to miss the Pulitzer caliber reporting, believe me!  Today's events will be on file under the tag #aog2114 and tomorrow's reports will be tagged #aog2115.  Only a few more days...

Dark Godiva filled with dark ganache today - yum.
