Giants Take Gold!!

Today was the long-awaited Pairs Dance-Pollinating Event and Team Giant Swallowtail did not disappoint.  Jeannie Giant showed up first and got into position on the pollination hurdle and then George Giant came floating in.  From there Jeannie and George moved from hurdle to hurdle with him never more than a few scant inches from her, perfectly choreographed.  Several times, they both soared into the air together in a spectacular display of dancing at which point the fans went wild and the other competitors waived their white flags of surrender.  When their event was over, both of them joined hands feet wings and flew up high into the Hickory trees where the rumor is they are enjoying some "adult" time.

In other AOG news... Team Hummie is all set for the Aerial Gymnastics and the Speed Pollinating Events tomorrow.  If they can just keep from attacking one another, they should do very well.  And although Team Pipevine Swallowtail didn't enter any of the events this year, they sent a representative to cheer on the other pollinators.  Pippie Pipevine spent a great deal of time at the pollen bar visiting with old friends and chatting up the reporters.  You can see Pippie HERE (and as a side-note, this is only the third time I have ever seen this species in my garden, and probably only the 6th or 7th time I've ever seen one, period, so very cool!)

There are only two more days of official AOG events, including the final day Closing Ceremonies, so be sure to file your stories!  Yesterday's highlights can be seen HERE and today's stories can be found at #aog2115.  Tomorrow's stories should be tagged #aog2116.

Your intrepid reporter has fallen quite far behind on sleep recently, possibly a side effect of the hormone therapy for cancer.  In any event, I felt that I was too sleep-deprived to attempt kayaking today so just stayed around the garden.  Attempts to nap were unsuccessful.  I've dealt with insomnia for years but it has been especially bad for the past few weeks.  Another thing on the list to talk to the Oncologist about when I see her at the end of the month.

Preparing for a colonoscopy on Monday, so no nuts in my dark chocolate today - just plain, lovely dark chocolate...
