Fairy tale Romance at the AOG

Day Six of the Alternative Olympic Games broke cool and slightly overcast.  This reporter met a friend for a walk in a wild national recreation area nearby where we saw very little but enjoyed visiting and socially distanced walking.  Back home in time for lunch, after which the sun finally broke through the clouds just in time for the afternoon events at the Pollinator Stadium.

There were several speed pollinating and nectar-dipping events going on and the athletes were all abuzz with excitement.  But this reporter's heart went pit-a-pat when I laid eyes on Pete and Pollyanna Potter Wasp tucked into a nice suite at the Mountain Mint Inn.  Pete told me that when his eyes (all hundred or so of them) met Pollyanna's from across the stadium, it was love at first sight.  After a brief courtship, they knew they had to ... well, let's just say "canoodle" shall we?  Meanwhile, those nosy Hoverflies were all up in their business wanting to know when they were going to start a family (duh) and if they were still going to compete in the Games (again, duh).

I am now somewhat suspicious about the alleged "leaf gymnastics" story that Eddie and Edith Eastern Forktail tried to sell me yesterday.  I think it may have been another AOG Love Story...although based on Eddie's grip on her neck, I'm not sure...

In other AOG news, Theo of Team Thick-headed Fly made an appearance in the stadium, warming up for the Nectar Dipping competition.  And, to the crowd's great delight, the legendary Beulah Blue-winged Wasp made her first-ever appearance in the NJ Pollinator Stadium where she will be competing in at least one of the Speed Pollinating events.  The crowd was in a fevered pitch by the time this reporter headed in from a long day of AOG coverage.

Today is Day Six of the AOG - you still have 4 more days to get your athletes whipped into game-shape so what are you waiting for?  Tomorrow's tag is #aog20207.

Many wonderful reports were filed yesterday, all of which can seen HERE.  And some of my personal favorites below...

Caterpillar Wrestling Event

Stay safe, people.  And be kind and loving.
