Life's Little Moments

Another hot, sticky day here in northern New Jersey.  I did a little work in the RV before it got too hot then retired to the garden with frequent trips inside to cool off.  Jax was mostly content to stay inside on the sofa, a nice change in his behavior.  The few times he came out with me, he got hot so quickly that I took him back in, making sure he had plenty of fresh water.

As is always the case when the temperatures are high, the garden was alive with insects - bees, butterflies, wasps and clearwing moths.  It is interesting that the Snowberry Clearwings (featured here) have a definite preference for the buddleia while the Hummingbird Clearwings prefer the phlox.  As I've also observed in a the past, the snowberry moths are more aggressive, quick to chase away other moths and much larger butterflies.  Random entomological observations...

Hubs took a long bike ride this morning then ran some errands and is now taking a nap.  We will take the dog out later for a trip to Starbucks and probably a walk through the pet store.  Yesterday I took him to Home Depot which he loves.  He got to smell lots of new things and had a lot of people make a fuss over him, which he loves and rewards with kisses.  On these hot days, walks are challenging so taking him places where he can see and smell new things is a good activity and wears him out.

After much agonizing, we have decided to sell our RV.  With Hubs still working, a large house/yard and MIL, we just don't have the time to take the sort of trips a 37 foot RV needs.  We toyed with keeping it until Hubs retires in 4 years, but that's really too long for something like that to sit idle. Because of its age, we will have to see it privately as none of the consignment lots will take it.  Fortunately, there are immaculate records on every singe bit of work/maintenance that has ever been done on it since my parents had it for nearly 20 years before we got it.  So, we will figure out the best way to do this; and in the meantime, clear personal things out.  A little bittersweet to be honest.

I think plain dark today - or maybe dark with peanut butter...
