Nicky and her Nikon

RHS Wisley

We woke up to heavy rain but after breakfast it had stopped, so we set off for our dog walk. As we got out the car at the woods it started again, absolutely lashing down. Xena hates the rain and looked so miserable - in extras see the phone image Gavin took of her huddling under my umbrella! We tried to walk where there was maximum tree cover, and finally after some time it stopped. However as we we nearing the end of the walk, there was lightning and thunder and it came bucketing down again - poor Xena almost jumped out of her skin at the thunder which sounded as if it was right above us! It was not her best walk, she had to get washed when we got home and she was content to sleep after that.

Gavin and I had some chores to do today, I had to get dog food, then went to Sainsbury's to get some products that Waitrose have no stock of, Gavin went to B&Q to get some DIY things he needed. We almost forgot that we had booked lunch at RHS Wisley in their garden terrace restaurant, but we got there in time to have a quick look around the gardens - I wanted to show Gavin the new area developed around the new RHS Hilltop centre - it is so impressive, with beautiful new gardens and another new cafe. The lunch was light and lovely, using fresh ingredients from the Wisley gardens.

The Olympic Games is almost over and team GB have done very well with 63 medals so far and many personal records achieved. Gavin is now watching the rugby and it seems to be a better match than last week.

Tomorrow we setting off early for Cambridge, Adam is moving into his new home and Gavin is going to help him with some DIY things. He and Pip have already decorated the new home with some really trendy paint features so I cannot wait to see it.

An extra of the Annabelle hydrangeas I mentioned in yesterday's blip.
