Flower Power

Volunteering today at The Moat, general border maintenance, weeding and pruning. Always interesting with a constant coming and going of plants of such wide varieties. The ebb and flow of the seasons... The gardens are pulsating with colour and interest, but there is an ever so subtle hint of autumn, slightly cooler, dry leaves falling, plants past their best are drooping, and it won't be long before the vibrance subsides and the mellow moods start to settle upon the land.
Keats, eat your heart out!

We also had to set up a marquee on the moat island in preparation for a function at the weekend. All volunteer hands to the pump, it was quite an erection and we convened for elevenses afterwards, pleased to be able to help. Made a change from gardening!

Spoke to G, our friend who is building a garage extension, probably start in October. Spoke to the planning department who assure us it is a 'permitted development' and planning is not required. Yippee, that saves.. Wait for it. two thousand (yes, two thousand) pounds in Architect fees and other charges. This is seriously good news.

Took J to town to meet his friends. When he is in the UK they always have a reunion. We are so proud of him and his school chums who are a great bunch of lads, all doing well.

Life's been good so far.. Thanks Joe Walsh, great title for a song..
