Two in a row

Another *excellent* concert today - Karine Polwart, accompanied by Dave Milligan. I am sure we saw them together before, but apparently they haven’t done too many big concerts, so maybe I’m wrong. We’re also pretty sure we saw Karine at the Queen’s Hall at some point, perhaps in her funny ‘girly’ trio with Corinna Hewat and Annie Grace. But that may also be a false memory. This stuff is pre-Blip, so I cannot check. Boo hiss. Anyway, they are a perfect fit, and the concert was superb. Sold out, but a few empty seats. Perhaps people had been ‘pinged’… Or sadly got sick. Anyway, one thing that socially distanced concerts points out to you that I had never noticed before is how many people go to concerts on their own - for whatever reason. Anyway, we were tremendously lucky to get tickets, secondhand, via RB13.

At the end of the concert, KP asked if she could take a picture of the audience…because this was her first concert in a long time. So I took my chance!

Earlier we had picked up a couple of chairs from our upstairs neighbour, and then been to the supermarket for a big shop that we could only get upstairs to the flat in two goes. The lift is still not working.

After the concert, we got the bus back to Leith and then went to Campervan Brewery for a couple of beers before dinner. Although quiet it had, as ever, a good vibe. And of course excellent beers. We ended up having a brief chat with a family who are up from Manchester, who had found it via google. We finished with burgers and chips for a lazy tea, and also by giving the poppies a haircut. They’ve finished, so the snapdragons need space to see if they can do something for the last few weeks of warmer weather.

It’s been a rather excellent weekend.
