WIDE WEDNESDAY

Not strictly a “Wide Wednesday” shot, but you couldn’t get much wider smiles than those on the faces of Mr. HCB and his friend, Paul!  We met Paul and his wife, Lorraine, at Jack’s this morning and had decided when we met them about a month ago to have breakfast, hence the big smile on their faces.

They decided to have the Full English and as you can see, it was the full works.  You can’t see Paul’s behind the water jug and the coffee cup, but I can assure you, it was just as big.  Meanwhile, Lorraine and I had Eggs Benedict - and they were much smaller portions.

We had put two hours parking on the car and that time went so quickly.  The friendship between Mr. HCB and Paul goes back well over 50 years when they played in the same football team, so they were able to chat about old friends, which they did!  And they say women talk - don’t you believe it - they talked and laughed far more than we did!  Having said that, my friendship with Lorraine doesn’t go back that far, so we talked about family more than old friends and places to visit for holidays in the UK.  I’m sure we will all meet again soon after having such a good time today.

Just as we were leaving Jack’s, we saw Trevor and Gary, two other friends, so were able to catch up with them too - it is so good to be able to see friends again - something we have all missed in the last 18 months.

We were so full up after our breakfasts that we decided we didn’t need much for lunch - so we both had a slice of the delicious Lemon Drizzle cake that Lorraine had given us.

I am now about to “attack” the kitchen and do some work out there - I have kept the worktops relatively free after I cleared them a couple of months ago, but feel I need to get rid of some of the stuff that is cluttering up the cupboards - so that’s my afternoon job.  Meanwhile, Mr. HCB says he doesn’t feel like doing much in the garden today, so he will probably just sit and do a Sudoku or two.  He says he has a lot to do in the garden tomorrow, so that will keep him busy before a few days of cricket next week.  We do have to pace ourselves these days, but then we can!
