Stuff and Nonsense

Wall Butterfly #14

A lovely few hours at Lunt Meadows today. There were loads of geese, coots and black headed gulls, plenty of lapwings and the most unusual spot of the day was a Swan Goose(extra). We've seen one before at Martin Mere last year, but never at Lunt and it was quite far away, hence the heavy crop. There were also a couple of Ruff and a golden plover on the north pool which was nice, but the butterflies were quite numerous in the sunshine. We saw one Brimstone, a couple of Wall butterflies, lots of whites and tons of small tortoiseshells - it felt like almost every thistle had one on at one stage which was lovely to see.

Tomorrow we are off the see the in-laws in London for a few days so again I might need to catch up with blips and commenting when I get back - we'll see. Apologies in advance if I miss something on the day.
