The Great Salt Marsh

It poured last night - the dregs of Hurricane Ida came on through Massachusetts, but it cleared by mid-morning and my friend Carol and I took off to do some errands and touring.

We headed into Manchester-by-the-Sea (my home town) and went to the Manchester Historical Museum where we looked at archived class photos from the elementary school - a project that the museum is working on. They're trying to identify the classes and students over a period of years. We found at least four of our class photos - what a trip down memory lane!
(And we were featured on their Facebook Page this morning!)

Then off to do some errands while driving up the coast, eventually back to home in Hamilton. Along the way we stopped so that I could take a photo of the Essex Salt Marsh with the Burnham House off to the right. The Great Salt Marsh runs from Gloucester, MA (on Cape Ann) to southern New Hampshire and encompasses 25,000 plus acres of coastal marshlands. If you're interested in reading a bit more (with photos) you can look here. And here's a more factual Wikipedia article.

I couldn't find much on the house in the photo, other than it appears it was actually a shipbuilder's building. But here's a bit of info and some more photos of the marsh.
