Da Sletts

Da Sletts (=slates)is the name of the foreshore here, between the Ayre of Breiwick and the Ayre of Clickimin, consisting of Old Red Sandstone. The level area in the middle ground is called The Pier, though is a completely natural dip to the sea.

The right end of the low cliff in the distance is The Knab and, on the hilltop to its left, the Coastguard Station past which we walked yesterday.

Today's route past Da Sletts took us to Clickimin Broch, built some 2,400 years ago, which we shared visiting with lively children and ?grandparents who insisted on standing in full view, blocking the doorway while I was trying to take my blip; by the time they left, taking the pink scooter than leaned against the outer wall, the light had gone, I lost the contrast.

Today the sky changed from dull grey to blue with clouds and welcome sunshine but we spent the morning on Zoom service from our church, which for the first time since lockdown had a choir singing hymns, introit and anthem. Such a pity we weren't among them!
