Rooper's red-hot poker

Mostly wet today - and the forecast for the next week is wet too. Rain most days, otherwise dull. We'll be spending the week on Mull, cat and flat sitting for Daughter One who is on holiday, no doubt enjoying the same weather! Looking on the bright side, my neighbour won't have to water my crates of plants!

I've been taking pictures of my favourite Kniphofia - I won't call it a Red Hot Poker for obvious reasons. This is a species, Kniphofia rooperi , from the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Why does it have to flower when we're away! Let's hope we don't have a hurricane in the next week and we come back to find it flattened!
