Life through the lens...

Old Newlyn

A part of Newlyn I haven’t visited before.
Hidden away behind the harbour and shops.

We went over to buy some more fish. Megrim again as we did enjoyed it.
( see extra of the fish stall. The megrim in bottom right. )
Then managed to park by the Duke Street Cafe, where we just managed to get a table. (had to be out in 45mins as it was booked)
Plenty of time for a coffee and cake.
Mr C went back to sit in the car while I had just enough time ( carpark ticket ran out in 25mins ) for. A quick exploration of the narrow back streets.

So a collage of some of the pictures I took.
As it is Flower Friday the centre one is a gorgeous ginger lily flowering in a hidden corner.
Along with others are:
Top L. One of the narrow cobbled streets. ( the cobbles of course, pebbles from the beach)
Top R. Old warehouse.
Top Middle. Old Post Office.
Left. Sculpture of driftwood and pebbles.

Left.Second to bottom.
Huge iconic granite building, built in 1907, is the former ice works. Continued to supply the fishing fleet until 2006 when it was replaced by a modern flake-ice works. A listed building in desperate need of restoration.

Bottom L. The Newlyn Tinning Co. Specialising in copper pan re-tinning..
Bottom mid. Plaque on the house where the famous Australian Methodist Minister, Dr William Kelynack lived.
Bottom R . The remains of an old well.

After all the gorgeous weather today is cool, with rain on and off.
Still can’t grumble, and we have that delicious fish to look forward to. Along with a nice bottle of South African Chenin Blanc. Yummy!
