Life through the lens...

Botallack

Fish curry for our evening meal, so Newlyn was our first stop to buy some Cornish Pollock.
Then to Botallack where I got the chairs out, and found a nice spot on the cliffs to have our coffee.
Although we have been here many times and in all weathers, it is still an of our favourite places.
This time I explored on my own.
Instead of my usual shot of the Crown Engine Houses ( see extra ) I decided of this shot of the Arsenic Labyrinth with Wheal Owles mine on the cliff tops in the distance.

In 1893, 19 men and a boy were drowned, when accidentally, the miners broke into the abandoned neighbouring mine workings of Wheal Drea. This resulted in the water rushing in.
No bodies were founded and the mine never reopened.

The collage ( extra ) shows Mr C enjoying the view, The Crown Engine Houses, and a shot taken from inside the arsenic labyrinth.

Pasties from McFaddens in St Just, were, as ever, the best in Cornwall.
Tried driving down to Cape Cornwall, but gave it up as a bad job. Cars stuck everywhere!
So went back to eat them at Botallack.

Back early afternoon to sit out in the garden again.
Another fabulous day. 24C.
Just so lucky.
