A Domestic Day

Spike spends a lot of time trying to move the ball by staring at it. Blake will get up and amble after it once just to keep Spike on his toes, but he doesn't  have Spike's obsession with fetching. He lost interest when he realized that Spike wouldn't wrestle with him. over a toy.

Dana came by to pick Blake up and Spike was far more excited to see her than Blake was!  In fact he was beside himself, turning in circles, running in circles and jumping up on the couch and landing just where one of us was preparing to sit. Blake observed the action with interest....

Back when our housekeeper quit, John said he would vacuum every Wednesday. He's done pretty well although I can always tell where he's been because he moves all the furniture and doesn't put it back. Given that fact, I decided to follow along behind with a mop. This isn't a very big house, and is relatively easy to clean, but the floors, in fact all the surfaces,  get a lot of dirt and dust. Even with two of us tag teaming each other, it was still a lot of work. I really don't know how Caroline did it.

Not that I did it much, but I stopped polishing the floor when Ozzie started having trouble getting traction with his back legs. I ran across the bottle of floor polish in the cupboard this morning and decided to try it in one room to see how Spike does with it. It's easy to put on and makes the floor look realIy good.  I decided to try it in the bedroom because I could close the door for an hour while it dried.

We really need to get out more....

The ten year smoke alarms arrived yesterday. It took both of us to figure out how to put up the first one yesterday, and by the time that was done John had decided that he could only do one a day, and the ladder has to stay up until all four of them have been installed. The building code says it has to be on the ceiling, and that is significantly harder on the neck than putting it on the wall. John never raises his voice, but the muttering and under-the-breath cursing was significant enough that I left him to it.

I wonder how long this ladder will be standing in the guest bedroom?
